He’s lived and worked almost everywhere there is to live in the North Island of New Zealand, but it’s Taranaki that Rescue Helicopter crewman Ed Garvey has chosen to settle. A former crewman for the Royal New Zealand Airforce, Ed is looking forward to working directly with civilians in his new role. With family nearby in Urenui and Waitara, Ed says the geographic uniqueness of the Taranaki region is part of its appeal. Although most of his spare time is spent working on his lifestyle block, when Ed’s not on duty, he enjoys a bit of light engineering (building trailers mainly), fishing and pretending to be a farmer.
